Notes
- The discontinued GWS S04 BB is a high-quality standard-sized analog servo that stands out by incorporating a precise and durable ball bearing (BB) on its output shaft. It is designed for the discerning sport pilot or driver who values a smoother, more accurate, and more reliable control system. The S04 BB is a superb choice for the flight controls on a .40 to .60 size sport or aerobatic airplane. It is also an excellent steering servo for 1/10 scale on-road and off-road racing vehicles. The ball bearing provides a rigid, slop-free support that translates into a more direct and connected feel for the user.
- The essence of the S04 BB is its refined and reliable performance. The ball bearing not only provides more accurate centering and smoother transit, but it also significantly reduces wear and tear on the geartrain, leading to a much longer service life. This means the servo maintains its ""like-new"" precision for far longer than a comparable bushing-equipped servo. It is a servo for hobbyists who appreciate quality components and the tangible improvement in performance that they provide.
- For roboticists, the GWS S04 BB is an excellent general-purpose actuator for projects where accuracy is a priority. Its standard size and ball bearing design make it a great choice for the joints of a medium-sized robotic arm, a stable pan-and-tilt camera system, or the steering on a precision autonomous rover. It provides a level of smoothness and repeatable accuracy that is a clear step above basic, entry-level servos, making it a very valuable tool for building more capable robots."

Comments: The old S04 with the thin lead was excellent, then GWS upgraded the S04 with new electronics and a heavier lead. The upgraded version (tested on several servos) managed about 6.7Kgcm in one direction and 7.2Kgcm in the other and the 6.7Kgcm direction was very juddery on load. Maybe by now GWS has corrected their 'improvement'.
